Where Community, Conservation, and Culture Meet the River

October 5 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

The Climate Discovery Boat Tour provides participants with a firsthand look at how nature-based solutions are improving the health and resilience of the Trout River. Guided by marine scientists, environmental educators, and local historians, guests will travel along the river to observe oyster reef restoration sites, living shorelines, wetlands, and native wildlife while learning about the impacts of climate change on Northeast Florida.

The tour will highlight how oyster reefs reduce erosion, improve water quality, support biodiversity, and help protect waterfront communities from storm surge and flooding. Participants will also explore the cultural and ecological history of the Trout River and discover how environmental restoration can drive ecotourism, economic development, and community revitalization.

This 60-minute tour includes interactive discussions, opportunities for wildlife observation, and educational materials that encourage participants to become advocates for climate resilience in their own communities. The experience connects science, conservation, and local heritage, making climate education engaging, accessible, and memorable for residents and visitors alike.
